Cattle Herding
If you ever participated in cattle herding in Argentina, then you know you have experienced one of the most genuine rural activities involving gauchos and horses. It’s the perfect opportunity to feel side by side with them what being a gaucho means. You’ll be able to appreciate their skills and management of the horse and cattle. More important, you will experience the camaraderie; the sharing of the “mate”; and you will taste the best asados underneath some shadow of a tree talking about life in the country and its traditions.
What to expect
Sometimes herding cows from one field to another involves many kilometers and hours. The rhythm of the ride varies: there are slow moments where you can talk and share; others moving at trot in silence, watching the landscape and making sure the cows are in place. Some of them are at full gallop, running after a renegade cow that has decided to take another road.
It’s not just a ride per se but one that will challenge you and relax you at the same time. For a rider it’s a special bonding time: with nature, with its horse and with its mind. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn about the countryside culture and horses in a very different and particular way.
