Pampas
Cities; night life; nature; horses; polo; jumping and everything a rider could want. The Pampas region has all these and more to offer.
Location
Buenos Aires, La Pampa and parts of Córdoba, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos and San Luis provinces make up the famous Region Pampeana (Pampa Region). This is a vast plain that surprises visitors with its huge extension. A long time ago, when Spanish colonizers arrived in this area, there were hardly any trees. As a result, it looked like a grass desert. Nowadays, all the trees were planted by the owners of the giant estancias built during the colonization.
The Pampas are known for being one of the most fertile areas of the word. Therefore, this is the most productive region of Argentina in terms of agriculture and meat. As a result, 80 % of Argentina’s population is concentrated in this area. Buenos Aires capital city, and other important cities, such as Mar del Plata, Bahia Blanca, Santa Fe, and Rosario are located in this region.
Everything to do
This region summarizes a lot of the Argentine spirit and way of life. On the one hand, Buenos Aires city represents its modern life. It is a city that never sleeps! It has a huge art and cultural offer – proof of this are its 160 museums and 287 theaters. Also, it is the hometown of tango, and where the most important soccer stadiums and teams are located. Moreover, you can find top-notch hotels and restaurants, as well as outstanding architecture and parks.
Rural landscapes around the corner
Just a few kilometers away from downtown, visitors can experience the gaucho life and enjoy amazing rural landscapes. It’s not necessary to go long distances to get to know its little rural towns. Here tourists can go on the most amazing rides just forty minutes away from the city.
The Pampa Region has everything: seacoast, big cities, and farm life. It is the epicenter, where all horse activities are concentrated. The Palermo Open (the only 40 goal polo tournament of the world) is played in the middle of the city. Buenos Aires also has two huge horse racetracks, important equestrian clubs, and the “Rural Stadium” (La Rural in Spanish), which holds a very important annual horse exhibit. Not only that, but on the outskirts of the city you can find hundreds of polo clubs, horse- jumping tracks, all types of horse breeders, and many estancias to visit.
Buenos Aires province has top level tourist services and activities, and for horse lovers, it is the first and last stop to get to know Argentina.
