Cross Country
Eventing or Cross Country is a very unique discipline that puts together nature, horses and jumping. You’ll find a variety of obstacles that will put your riding skills to the test. HARAS SEGUNDO AYRE, by Jose Ortelli, is the perfect place to learn and practice this sport.
Cross country competitions are divided into three stages. The first one is a dressage test in which the judges evaluate the movements and ability of the horse and the performance of both horse and rider. On the next day competitors have to face the most difficult part, they have to jump natural obstacles in an open field in an established circuit against time. Depending on the level of professionalism the height and difficulty of the obstacles will increase. As in endurance, when they finish the test horses must go through a vet check. Those who have a green light will move on to the last stage of competition: jumping in track. At the end every rider adds up each discipline’s points and the winner is selected.
In eventing, both horse and rider must be fully prepared and trained and that’s why it is said to be the most complete of all the equestrian disciplines.
