Southern Patagonia
The Far South
There is simply no feeling that compares to that of cantering along the wide Patagonian steppe. In fact, horse riding in South Patagonia is one of the best riding experiences in Argentina. Especially because this region possesses a certain mystique that’s impossible to explain. In this corner of the Earth, the eternal sky with its long, luscious clouds seems to have been painted by God himself.
Geography
Patagonia region can be divided in two: North & South. The first is mainly known because of its gorgeous emerald color lakes and its many rivers. At the same time, these travel through the mountains and millennial forests. The second, due to its immense extensions of land. Also, the steppe, the giant turquoise colored lakes and the ice fields are the scenery that predominates in this region. In fact, in the south everything’s wilder and much more extreme. In this region you can really feel far away from civilization.
Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego provinces are both part of Southern Patagonia. There are two very important cities in these provinces as for tourism. One of them is El Calafate, located in Santa Cruz. This is the hometown of the Perito Moreno Glacier. The other one is Ushuaia, located in Tierra del Fuego. It’s considered to be the southernmost city in the world.
