Tucuman
The Jewel of the Calchaqui Valleys
EQUUS Argentina and Nicolas, – an expert on horses and local guide who has a remarkable horse settlement in Cabra Horco location – invite you to this horse riding adventure to explore the Tucuman’s mountains and visit remote corners only accessible by horse or on foot. Tucuman province is synonym of history, of geographic smallness, but greatness of spirit.
The Calchaqui trail goes all along the side of the Andes mountains from the north of Salta to the south of Tucuman. Some of the best known stops of the trail are the Quilmes ruins (among the oldest pre-Hispanic Calchaqui settlements – they date circa 800 b.C.), “Amaicha del Valle” (where the famous Pachamama Fest takes place during carnival season), and “Tafi del Valle” (a precious point of Tucuman, framed between the Moñoz and the Mala Mala peaks). “Los Menhires” is also in the province of Tucuman. It is an archaeological site, close to Tafi del Valle.
