Chubut
The Heart of Patagonia
Let´s talk about the possibility of riding horses on the beach while admiring the whales and their dancing and singing. Well, Chubut gives us that opportunity!
Location
Chubut is situated between the province of Rio Negro and the province of Santa Cruz. To the west, it shares the Andes Mountains with Chile and in the east, it limits with the Atlantic Ocean. During 1.865, Welsh people settled in this region, and they made this piece of land their little Wales. Subsequently, Welsh tea is very popular together with their particular cakes and breads. The main Welsh towns are Gaiman, Trelew, Dolavon and Puerto Madryn.
Things to do
The region presents mountain areas to do climbing and trekking as well as lakes and rivers to do fly fishing. Especially, tourism is centered in its east coast where the Southern Right Whale is the star. Sightings of this animal occur mostly in Peninsula Valdes, which is also where the majority of marine wildlife sightings happen.
The Alerces National Park is also part of Chubut and hosts the oldest forest of South America. It is said that Walt Disney was inspired by this forest to create the famous film “Bambi”.
