Polo Clinic in Cañuelas
A great option to do a polo clinic in Buenos Aires is in Puesto Viejo Polo Club & Estancia. This place is located near Cañuelas, a town known for being home of the best polo players in the world, such as Adolfo Cambiaso and Camilo and Bartolome Castagnola. The estancia has 7 polo fields, 2 stick and ball fields and one jumping arena. More than 40 polo players are members of the club where they all have their horses. The club can host more than 400 horses.
The owner of the Club, Jeremy Baker, is passionate about the sport so he makes sure in his club there is always polo going on. Actually, there is a tournament for each weekend of the year. The most important one is Copa Cañuelas, which takes place in February. The final match is played and celebrated at the Campo Argentino de Polo. This is also where the Palermo Open is played.
The estancia has an exquisite 10 room hotel boutique. Liliana Forrester (Jeremy’s wife) was in charge of the decoration and did a great job. The hotel offers full board accommodation, so guests don’t need to worry about anything. The estancia´s philosophy is to make guests feel like home, all the staff are very friendly and always willing to help.
This Club is the perfect place for polo beginners and for those that already play but wish to improve their skills. The place counts with a professional polo school with many years of experience. The school has the quality certification of the AAP (Asociación Argentina de Polo). There are professional players between 2 and 6 goals of handicap that teach and play chuckers with the guests. In addition, there are more than 60 school horses for guests to choose from.

Itinerary
- Pickup and drop off by Ezeiza International Airport, located only 30 minutes away from the estancia.
- Check in at the hotel. Welcome reception where guests will meet the polo instructors and polo manager of the club. The hotel staff will show a map of the club and explain to them all what they need to know about the estancia. Beside polo there are many other activities to do so it is important for guests to know this in advance in order to plan their week. The club polo manager and coaches along with the hotel staff will inform time for lessons and chuckers of every day.
- Polo: the first day according to arrival time guests will have their first polo lesson; this first lesson is important so coaches can evaluate the riding and polo level of each rider. Horses assigned for the lesson will be easy school horses, and as they progress they will get better ones. In the afternoon guests will have their first 4 chucker practice.
- Usually every day after breakfast guests will meet the teachers at the hotel where they can chat about horses and their polo experience at the club. At 11 they will have lessons, guests can get to the stables ( located 400 meters away from the hotel) by bike or by car with the instructors. Lunch usually takes place around 1 pm and then between 2 to 4 pm guests can enjoy the swimming pool or take a nap in the hammocks which are hanging from the trees of the garden of the hotel. Chuckers take place in the afternoon around 5 pm. After polo drinks after practice is the perfect moment to enjoy the pampa sunset and relax after a full day of polo.
- The last two days of the polo week players will be able to enjoy a Champagne Challenge tournament.
- Each night guests will have dinner at the hotel hosted by the owners of the estancia, indeed Jeremy and Liliana love having dinner with guests and telling them all about the club. The whole idea is to make guests feel like home.
- At this club guests never get bored! When not doing polo they will be able to go for a sunset horse ride and get to know the whole estancia, also they will always have a good polo game to watch. Usually on Sundays lunch takes place in the fancy restaurant of the club house which is surrounded by two of the seven polo fields where finals take place.
Location
Cañuelas is 60 km away from the city of Buenos Aires (one hour drive) and half an hour away from the international airport. The estancia is by the route 6 km 82.

Cañuelas is the home town of many excellent players such as Adolfo Cambiaso, the best polo player in the world; and Bartolome and Camilo Castagnola, from La Natividad Team, winners of Palermo Open in 2021. La Natividad and La Dolfina (Cambiaso´s team) participate in important tournaments every year, such as Copa Zafiro and Polo Tour.
The estancia offers many activities for non riders companions: it has a swimming pool, bikes and an incredible maze (copy of the labyrinth of the Castle of Leads in UK). Guests can also sign up for beginners polo lessons and can do trail and carriage rides. On Sundays guests can enjoy watching a game while they have lunch at the restaurant of the club house that is surrounded by 2 polo fields.
Uribelarrea is a tiny town located 20 km away from the town of Cañuelas. This place is known for its homemade beer and every year during February they have a big celebration with beer and picada. It´s a really small town also known for its traditional rural restaurants where they elaborate their beer and local products.
