Selection of Jumping Horses
The selection of jumping horses is an exclusive package totally designed by EQUUS ARGENTINA. Our aim is to help those riders who want to do a jumping clinic but also try and buy new horses. Argentina has a great advantage that other countries don’t: we have high quality horses and the lowest prices.
What to consider
When EQUUS ARGENTINA selects horses, we evaluate a couple of things. The most important are the horses’ sanity and how safe they are. We understand that being calm and easy horses is the best characteristic a jumping horse can have for the rider to enjoy this sport. A well-trained horse with an easy head is a key factor.
Together with JLO and FAITH Team we choose the horses we consider best for sale. We trust their opinion and knowledge about horses. Moreover, EQUUS ARGENTINA only offers horses that have been tried before by us and our colleagues, we never deal with horses we don’t know ourselves. Finally, there are horses for all levels, and we make sure the vet checks are done by serious and trustful vets.
Haras Segundo Ayre
Haras Segundo Ayre was founded by Joe´s father, Jose Ortelli Sr., and his wife, in 1.990. Since then, they have been breeding and shipping horses all around the world. They have a shipping company named JOSA S.A. They also rented horses for the youth Olympic Games that took place in Argentina in 2019 obtaining great results.
Faith Team
On the other hand, FAITH TEAM (Tomas Peña Aldazabal and Agustina Rol) work with their own horses and also with horses from important breeders. Some of them are HARAS EL REDOBLE and HARAS LA TATABRA, among others. Tomas is the one in charge of receiving the new horses, just tamed, and training them to become good jumpers. He is very professional and has a very good method to make them give their best.
During this tour, EQUUS ARGENTINA will be escorting our clients at every moment, from the very beginning to the very end. We will make sure to cover all of our clients’ petitions.

Itinerary
- Pick up & drop off at Ezeiza International Airport or by Buenos Aires city.
- First night accomodation at Buenos Aires Park Hyatt Hotel or Four Season Hotel both located in Recoleta neighbourhood. This area is ideal to get to know the best places in Buenos Aires (restaurants and shopping, specially equestrian shops).
- Transport and accomodation at HARAS SEGUNDO AYRE. During these days riders will be trying selected horses under the riding instructions of Joe (Jose Ortelli). Haras Segundo Ayre has a grass jumping field, cross country field, covered professional dressage arena, circular training corral, among others. Includes a visit to Carlos Keen rural town.
- Transport and accommodation to FAITH TEAM place. During these days riders will be able to try horses and train with Tomas. He will ride the selected horses previously to show how they jump and behave. Full board accommodation is included.
- This is a very special program and is ideal to combine it with other options such as ride in Patagonia, or North Argentina. We can do a special custom made trip for those choosing this option.
Location
FAITH and Haras Segundo Ayre are both located in the province of Buenos Aires, one hour away from the capital city.
Other activities for riders and non riders companions
Buenos Aires city and its surroundings have a great variety of touristic activities to offer to its visitors. It would be impossible to name all of them, therefore EQUUS ARGENTINA selected those that are more related with our equestrian audience.
Buenos Aires city is well known for having very high quality leather at very competitive prices. It is a good idea to shop at the many “talabarterias” of the city. Talabartería Inglesa (located in Belgrano) is one of the best shops for riders that do jumping and dressage; while Talabarteria Arandú (located in the fancy neighbourhood of Recoleta) is the best shop to buy traditional gaucho gear -such as silver knives, mates, alpargatas and boinas.
Polo players spend at least one day of their stay shopping in Buenos Aires because Argentina is the top polo mallet and boot producer for this sport. The truth is that it is not easy to do a polo stick. In fact, it is a very delicate process which needs lots of dedication. It is really worthwhile to make some time to visit a polo mallet workshop. There are a few places in the Pilar área, such as J&M, Logui or Casa Zapala (which also has a store in Buenos Aires city).
Buenos Aires, the city that never sleeps, is famous for its nightlife. The city has different neighbourhoods and each one of them has its own personality. In 2021 the British magazine Time Out named “Thames” street (located in the neighborhood of Palermo Soho) among the 10 most greatest streets in the world -reknown because of its restaurants and bars. The “Niño Gordo” bar is one of the best bars to visit, it stands out for its originality and excellent service.
